Patrick's Yard

Patrick's Yard refers to the path from the High Street to the left of (Derek and Shelia's house). The path now leads past the door to No. 9 High Street (Riverside House) to the front door of No. 10 High Street (The Coach House).
The front of No. 9 High Street was Edson Patrick's greengrocery store and the yard named after Edson Patrick.
Patrick (then at 4 Goitside, Luddenden) brought the yard in 1919 from Samuel Bloomer (Holme House, Mount Tabor) for the sum of £650.
In May 1974, Patrick sold the yard and the cottages at 10, 11, and 12 High Street to Bryan Joseph Davenport (of 20 Halifax Lane, Luddenden) for the sum of ???
Bryan Davenport was award a grant to rennovate 10 & 11 High Street. The estimated cost of repair was £9075. A grant was award from Calderdale Metropilotan Borough of £2500. That being 50% of the maximum grant amount.
Edson was born in Jan 1886 and died in July 1975 at 89 years old.
Edson Patrick was one of five children. His parents were William Patrick (1858 to 1940) and Leah Patrick (1852 to 1940).
