Is the haberdashery mentioned on the Retail page what is now 76-77 High Street? If so, I think the name might be Sayle rather than Sykes

You are right John, I will correct this mistake

I'm having problems creating image thumbnails. Not sure if I'm dong something wrong. I'm getting the following message:
Error creating thumbnail: /bin/bash: /usr/bin/convert: No such file or directory Error code: 127
Anyone any ideas?

KRM: The solution I used, was in two parts:
1. Upload the file (making a note of its exact name)

2. Add the following link to your page:

[[File:YourFileName.jpg|thumb]]

SBP: Yes, this definitely works for images (you can see the effect on the pictures on my personal page User:SBParker). It probably works for other media too.

John: Regarding the 'Books and Pamphlets' page. I removed the FILE: from the first two entries, but i'm not sure it's worth the bother. Have a look.

KRM: I've been trying to put together a page for the newspapper cuttings. Have a look at Library | Newspapper Cuttings page. There are a LOT to scan. I think the OCR is important for searching. Thoughts??

PhilR: I have been using the 'dictate' option on Word to transcribe documents.

This still needs some correcting as it doesn't always understand my accent, but like OCR it takes you a fair way through AND if you want to transcribe handwritten documents (if you are able to read them) you can transcribe these (faster than typing it all out). OCR wouldn't stand a chance.

-<p>SBP: For the moment, I've turned off the functionality in the Wiki that attempts to create thumbnails so that the error message is suppressed at least. Your uploads are probably all ok by the way - the system deletes any thumbnail images it fails to create but should have uploaded your original image(s) so that they're still available for use on your page(s).</p>
